Re: Caveirão
First of all to do this review, we need some background story, so you non brazilian fellows can understand part of the importance of this vehicle.
Here in Brazil, most specifically in Rio de Janeiro, drug dealers used Favelas as their hideout or like a fortress. To get inside that places police had to train a special unit and they called it BOPE - Batalhão de Operações Especiais (Special Police Operations Battalion). They have a training a little diferent from SWAT since their main objective isn't rescue hostages. They are trained to get the job done at all costs, many times they were called brutal. However they are the only forces capable to make drug dealers fear something.
BOPE symbol is a knife in a skull, that means victory over death. Due to that, their soldiers are known as Caveiras (Skulls). They only wear black from the beret to the boots. Everything to create a mystique and brig fear with it. There are many songs about death and destruction like:
Men in black,
What's your mission?
Get inside the Favela
And let bodies on the ground.
Men in black,
what's what you do?
I do thinks that makes satan fear.
After many combats the drug dealers came to use more and more powerfull equipment like greater gauges like 7.62mm and .50 machineguns. BOPE had to step forward and they started to use armored cars to get inside the favelas. And this armored cars where called Caveirões (Big Skulls). And this armored cars where made in toy form in 1/18 scale by a national toy company called Roma Jensen.
For those who want to learn more about BOPE I suggest the movie Elit Squad 1 and 2. For some pictures reference: http://www.flickr.com/photos/world_...57624826090847/
But let's go to the review here.
The vehicle outside is a perfect scaled model of the real one as you can see.
The left door opens as do the backdoors.
The lowest point is that the inside is just empty space, but some customization can solve it.
There is no rotating turret, it only stays there.
The wingarmored shield can go up and down.
The great point of all is if you are a fan of urban forces as I am you have a good use for it. If you are a customizer it has a lot of potencial to become a generic armored car.

Re: Caveirão
WOW now that is a scaled model. The company have done an outstanding job capturing the vehicle.
Hope these either become more available for the rest of the world or at least on ebay at a decent price. LOT of potential for this vehicle (S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicle, S.W.A.T. etc).

Re: Caveirão
Very cool vehicle. Thanks for the back story too, glad there are guys like that out there doing what they do, wish we could have them in the US.
To say that interior is sparse is an understatment, not even a driver's seat! More room for troops I guess. I love the usable gunports under the windows.
Knock, knock...
"Who's there?"
"BOPE"
"Damn."

Re: Caveirão
WOW, and I thought the Rage/Fury was the best vehicle for Shock Troopers and Alley Vipers... What would be the rough estimate on total shipping from them to you, then you to the U.S.?. I'm interested in a pair (hehe)

Re: Caveirão
Cool. It could use a black mat paint job. If I got one I would look into doing that.
