Okay, now I'd like to get your opinions on what was the Best Year for GI Joe ARAH?
For me-it's 1985.Why?
Some of my favorite characters and figures made their debut this year:Lady Jaye,Flint,Dusty,Shipwreck,The Dreadnoks,Eels,Lamprey,Crimson Guard,Snow Serpent, and the Team Supreme:Alpine & Bazooka! :p
Also-we got some of the all-time best vehicles-the A.W.E. Striker,Mauler,Transportable Tactical Battle Platform,Cobra Moray Hydrofoil, and the one I wanted and never got-the U.S.S. Flagg!
So what is YOUR favorite year? :)

it is very close between 85 and 86. i like characters like lifeline, sepentor, beach head and the new noks. but i have to agree that 85 was the best year ever, cant say every year because i saw some years where they really, i mean really sucked, i was ashamed to be a collector.

But if I had to go with one year, It would have to be 1985 in my opinion some of the COOLEST STUFF came out that year!!!! :D

It's split between two years for me-- 1983, the year the first mini-series debuted, and the year Duke was released (albeit as a mail-away), was a great one.
But 1985 was sort of THE year for G.I. Joe. The comic was the best-selling comic book in America (if Larry Hama is to be believed), the TV show was on every single weekday in syndication, and, as noted previously, several great figures were released that year. The G.I. Joe team was still at a manageable 50 or so members, and Cobra had just about all their top command structure in place. If the toy line had ceased to exist after 1985, we would have had pretty much all the main characters we know and love already established, and I think that says a lot about what a strong year '85 was.

I think it's 1987. When Falcon, Muskrat, Repeater and Tunnel Rat showed up. Otherwise, I'm a big fan of 1983 or whenever Torpedo, Tripwire and Gung Ho showed up.

In terms of when the line was hitting all the right notes, either 1984 or 1985.
In terms of when I was personally enjoying it the most...probably 1986.

I have to agree with everyone else here. By 1985 Hasbro and beefed up the molds and improved the sculpting over the 1982-1983 stuff. The characters were all reality / military based enough to be believable. Cobra command structure had been developed and the troops weren't ridiculously specialized yet. After 1985 stuff slowly started to unravel. 1986 was a great year, but Serpentor should never have been introduced. We simply shouldn't have gone down that road. And 1986 was the first year neon colors were introduced. Also a road that should never have been traveled.

i don't think Serpentor had any thing to do with it,it was more base on the movie, that started the grap that almost destroy the Joe's, beside the Sgt, need to fight someone to his level. as far as the neon colors well some one at Hasbro ,must saw the wrong kinda light, :D

Personally, 97-98
I wouldn't mind army building & just getting all the figs & vehicles in multiples
released those years, and I'd be happy.
2002 (http://www.yojoe.com/action/02/) is a very close second, it had a very very decent Serpentor,
Shock Viper, the Twins, the Crimson Strike Team from the Convention etc
with the obvious exception of the T-Crotch release figures that year
2000 (http://www.yojoe.com/action/00/) & 2001 (http://www.yojoe.com/action/01/) were very nice years with all the ARAH Collectors Series
