View Full Version : "I didn't know I had THAT!" and "Ah crap, I had that already?"
So today while digging for Overkill, I happened upon, of all things, a beautiful-condition Action Force Quarrel.
I completely forgot I had that!
I can't even remember how I got her, but if I have her, it must've been a pretty good deal (I be a penny-pincher, yo).
On the other side of the coin, during the same dig I found out I'd gotten a Crossfire, forgot about him and got a second one later on.
Either of those situations ever happen to any of you guys?

A lot of times.
Last December finally I made a "census" of all my Joes, but I really do not know how many and what Cobra I have.

I was looking a a few extra bats to use in pictures here, but thought I had them all on the table...
A week later I find one in the indy truck I took pictures off a few weeks before that and then one MOC....

I do my best to avoid things like that. I have all my figures cataloged and orderly... all my Cobra Armies are also organized so that I know how many of each I have at any given time. (I only count my loose, my MOC hang on the wall)
Someday when I stop being so busy, I'll take a pic of my collection and show you all. You can see my earliest collections on my Flickr site, but its gotten bigger and more organized since then.

That happens to me from time to time because my collection is spread out over like 15 shoe boxes in 10 different cabinets throughout the house. Once I came across Night Force Sneakpeak that I forgot I had.

My biggest flub? I thought I had given away my 2005 Convention Metalhead and bought another 2005 Con Boxed set! I came back from Iraq, and there was Metalhead, right where I told my wife to look for him, grinning at me deviously! :(
I keep buying VvsV Cobra Commanders. They made like 3 color variants of him. Black, Blue and grey. I keep thinking I don't have either the black or gray, but I actually have all 3....So I keep sending friends copies of him! LOL

I got to the point where I had so many figures that to keep track of them, I sat there and downloaded every figure's picture from Yojoe.com's archives. Then I grouped all the same character's figures together, and then went through one by one and placed a check mark on the figures I have. Now if I'm not sure about a figure, instead of searching through boxes and boxes of them, I just have a quick look at my "figure identifier". It works so well I ended up doing the same for all the vehicles and playsets too.

I keep a database of all the figures I know about. Have data of all the figures i have and how many. The database tells me what figures I need.

*You know you are a G.I.Joe addict when you have a database of your figures :D
I should probably do this, as well as for the weapons and other stuff, the collection is getting pretty big by now.

Never :) . Only sometimes I'am doubting how many Snow Serpents I've got, or how many Overkill's I got (I make armies of the v1 version) but I know all the types of Joes I've got, and I never have buyed a figure that I already have by mistake. Perhaps it is because I'am fairly new in collecting joes (less than one year).

Sadly yes, this happens to me. I've got mine in shoeboxes, plastic shoebox cases, Ziploc bagged, in copier paper boxes, etc.
I don't buy too much new stuff these days, but it is amazing to find stuff I haven't had out in a while and say: "I didn't remember I had this figure!"
Occasionally I find myself searching frantically for a figure after taking pictures. I try never to interrogate my sons, as 9 times out of 10, the figure is camouflaged or posed into a corner...right where I left him.
Occasionally I ask in a loving, fatherly voice: "I can't find so and so. I was playing with him over in this area. Have either of you boys seen him?" Amazing how many times my sons can find them quickly.

I know what you mean G. I put all my motorized back packs in a box years ago, and now for the life of me cannot find it. :(

I tend to keep all my figures in good order mainly on display or in a big ole' container. But I did think I had something when I didn't which led me to pass up aa good price on him only to figure out that I didn't have him!
Well.
First Quarrel. Now Vipers. I always thought I only had one 1986 Viper... but it turns out I have two. Both complete.
Spiffy.

As I bitched to LordRaven & Carlito, I seemed to have lost upwards of 10 DTC CGs! and who knows what else. I don't realize UNTIL I'm looking for 'em. But I guess with the 25A, a lot of that was rebuilt in terms of what I lost. "where'd that SpyTroops Roadblock go... oh, i got a 25A. that'll work. :\ "
