View Full Version : Resolute 7-packs: coming Fall 2010!
It had to happen.
I'm sure all of us have heard of this already, as the news got broken over at other sites.
Here's where I got the news, if you haven't heard:
http://generalsjoes.com/2009/10/09/some-info-revealed-on-the-upcoming-resolute-boxed-sets/
Of course, the problem here is that there's only five Resolute-specific toolings that haven't been released (we'd have six but Snake-Eyes got put in the Rise Of Cobra line). Destro, Baroness, Storm Shadow, Scarlett and Roadblock.
Since there'll be one Joe 7-pack and one Cobra 7-pack, that means the packs will need five extra Joes and four extra Cobras to pad it out.
Honestly, given the quality of the Storm Shadow, Roadblock and Scarlett figures, these packs may be a must-have for me... on the other hand, if the other figures in the packs are as poorly done as "Resolute" Gung-Ho from that ROC 2-pack... it's going to be hard to justify the expense.
Your thoughts, guys?

Frankly, this should be hard to screw up. Everyone is apes*(# over Resolute already, just give us some of the guys in the big group shot. Airborne and Flint for sure. Roadblock, I would even take Spirit if the fig was a good likeness from the toon. Scarlett also. With those, it would be a great set.

According to the tag in front of the figure at Comic Con. Resolute Scarlett is going to be released with POC wave 2 in February of next year.

No, it's going to be a black repaint of the Resolute Scarlett body with a new Rachel Nichols head and different accessories.

Pursuit Of Cobra (http://www.theterrordrome.com/wp-content/gallery/poc-wave-2-2010/poc-city-strike-scarlett.jpg)
Big differences.

Hmmmmm, I like that darker-haired Scarlet w/ dark wash to it. But FALL2010??? That seems like a VERY long time away. We'll prolly forget all about these until they show up. Uh, does that mean RESOLUTE is the theme between the 2 Joe movies?

No, it just means there was fan demand and Hasbro is delivering.
They said in the last Q&A there's nothing concrete for what will be done after Rise Of Cobra and Pursuit Of Cobra end.
I hope they NEVER revisit Resolute fiction again. That thing had a decent start but turned to crap around part 3 or 4.
Anywho, in terms of padding out the sets... Resolute DID have some good designs, but they need to work on presentation.
As I said, that Resolute Gung-Ho they did was a real disappointment. I liked the Copperhead in the pack but the Gung-Ho just didn't make the whole package worth it.
I did dig Tunnel Rat's new design. I could see it made using existing parts, too. Tunnel Rat's head (with opened eyes this time, Hasbro!!), an Original 13 torso, Resolute Duke's arms, Resolute Cobra Trooper's legs and "85" Snake-Eyes' grenade strap/belt piece.
I could also see the planned "Training Snake-Eyes" figure (same body as Samurai Storm Shadow with a different head and accessories) being painted up as Resolute Budo, if Hasbro's feeling daring.
There was also an Iron Klaw figure planned... I could see that used in the Cobra pack. Or redone in red as a Resolute-style Crimson Guard (http://www.yojoe.com/12inch/03/crimsonguard.shtml). ;)
And I think it's quite likely this (http://www.theterrordrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/arctic-cobra-commander.jpg) will be used as well. :p

I wish Hasbro would give up on the ROC stuff since the movie is over and dead. Go with Resolute. RE-Release the eps on the net or where ever. USE it as a filler till the next movie. They might as well, even if they use repaints and old parts. I admit, I didn't like the movie much and I didn't like Resolute all that much. Maybe I need more REsolute stuff or longer episodes. OR proper support for it!
ANyway, JAY, thx for all the info.

Hahahaha!
Good one. Oh, man you're funny. Yeah, let Hasbro give up on that movie that made them 300 million dollars worldwide, whose toyline is selling fine, in favor of something so much more obscure to the general public.
It's a brilliant marketing strategy!

Hasbro needs Resolute. Look at the Clone Wars, that's keeping the kids interested in busying Star Wars. As far as I know, there's no current Joe cartoon feeding the line to an audience. ROC is good, the movie okay, it generated a buzz, but now it's time to feed that buzz.. keep it buzzing in ppl's minds.
Anyway, the figure designs for Resolute is way better than anything I've seen in ROC. I'm not talking the artistic stuff. I'm talking the engineering of the figures themselves. And so I really like and want more Resolute stuff.

Clone Wars is written a lot more intelligently and maturely than Resolute ever could hope to be. They don't need Resolute. They can do something else, something better.

Engineering? Well I'll admit I only have one of the three original Resolute figure molds, the Cobra Trooper's body on ROC Firefly, but I disagree nonetheless. Most of my ROC figures can hold their rifles with the butt of the stock against their shoulder like they would in real life (except for the larger-sized Pulse rifles, anyway), this Firefly cannot hold his rifle in such a way at all, yet the 25th Beachhead who came with the same rifle could. Don't get me wrong, I still like that Firefly, I just wish he could hold his rifle in a more proper way.
But, I guess I'm a different kind of fan. I can live with old and new. I still love ARAH, but that doesn't mean I can't like ROC. I love the old Generation 1 cartoon (moreso than the GIJoe cartoon, even as a kid I found it insulted my intelligence and asked for too much suspension of disbelief to buy an ELITE MILITARY GROUP having idiots like Shipwreck and Bazooka on the team), and I can live with it along with the Movies and Transformers: Animated. Likewise, I'm still a Hama fanboy but I love Rise Of Cobra just as much and I can live with two different "toy-verses", Real American Hero with all my classic O-ring guys and Rise Of Cobra with the new construction type.

The Resolute cartoon is dead. Hasbro said they're working on the "next generation" of the cartoon which implies it's not Resolute. The classic GI Joe mythos is dead. Now that Hasbro is in bed with the Hollywood money making machine, everything will be based on the movies. (I wonder how long it will be before the comics are canceled?)
I'm really disappointed, I liked Resolute. The cartoon was great for what it was, five minute episodes. I wish we could have seen what they could do with a regular series. The figures looked great and had excellent articulation. Resolute gave us Duke's first good figure!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the Resolute 7-packs, it's the last of Resolute but something is better than nothing.
