I was at TRU tonight and saw something weird. The package was Bench Press, but inside was Hawk. Front and back card art was clearly Bench Press, with no evidence of tampering.

I'm guessing this was just sloppy packaging and not some weird swap-out by a crazy collector. Why would anyone do this?

Anyone else seen weird packaging mistakes like that?

RePack attack! I would think such different figures would not be available to be mixed at the factory

yeah dude, the re-packers can swap out figures with little to no evidence with the RoC packages since the bottom is a rectangle. Ive seen them just slit the bottom and put a piece of tape over it, and it looks factory sealed...

Bad move on hasbro's behalf.

But aren't these things kinda hard to do figure swaps? I'm sure it's doable and these guys actually don't care if it's good or bad. Just enough to get their money as a return or something... But anyway, yeah.

Couldn't they just waltz in and say "Hey I bought this for my kid and got the wrong one can I do an exchange?" But I guess if they opened figure A, that would be tough. But Hawk was not the most common figure to find...I could see some of the versions of Duke or the umpteenth Viper...Just seemed weird.

I found a card at Wal-mart today that had Shipwreck art work and all of Shipwrecks weapons, including the bird, but it had the old red glowing Snake-eyes from the cartoon movie packs. It wasn't tampered with. No reason to tamper with a Shipwreck figure.

I didn't buy it. Maybe I should go back and get it. What do you guys think?

TRU near me has had for months now, a Cobra Five pack with Storm Shadow and Viper replaced with Target Exclusive RoC Air Viper Commandos (AVACS). Now, they likely paid $10 each for those Air Vipers Commandos, meaning they wanted the CLAWS, not the figures. Which is strange to me, because that CLAW is just a big backpack, but...whatever.

One K-Mart had for the longest time (woah-oh-oh! :p ) a Cobra Legions pack with Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow, Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes from the TRU Red Ninja 5-pack. I wonder what happened to it? Wasn't there last time.

That's not even the strangest I've seen. I've seen bad customs inserted. Saw 5-pack Viper replaced by the regular Viper but given Mutt's left hand for some reason.

From more checking, I have found "re-packers" are a blight on genuine consumers all over. Thought it was weird, but I guess I better pay attention before purchasing anything new...

Yeah, tonight I saw a TRU 3 pack with Speed Metal, Grunt and Sgt Stone, but Speed Metal was replaced with Duke in Delta six suit. How do these guys get away with this $hit? I know...take it home, repack it and return it to the store!

It really is pitiful. But then they probably sell that on eBay.

I was thinking of my original post. The guy probably bought Hawk at TRU when they had specials in August of 2 for $10. Played with Hawk til he got bored. Then bought Bench Press for $8, repacked Hawk and returned Bench Press/repacked with Hawk to get his $8 back.

If they applied their time and effort, they could have got a job to pay them actual cash. All that work, seems pretty idiotic...
