Okay, there are two characters over at IMDB I have no idea about:

1. "Mouse" played by Joseph mazzello

2. "Havoc" played by Matt Gerald

I know that the HAVOC was a 1986 toy, and that the movie studio is most likely just taking liberties by turning a tracked-vehicle into a person (God knows there aren't enough characters in the G.I. Joe universe, that they have to go and turn a vehicle into one for plot progression), but is it just ME or is "Mouse" not in the G.I. Joe lore at all (at least not in the Marvel or Sunbow part of it)?

Anyone know?

See that's how you kill a franchise by "f"ing all up. Mouse? come on, you could have used TunnelRat. Rely on the big guys first and keep it small. That's Hollywood for you, bunch of useless suits.

http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=9&itemid=17523 Its a total new character... And for Havoc.. might read http://generalsjoes.com/2011/08/22/g-i-joe-retaliation-havoc-to-be-played-by-matt-gerald/

also rumored ok NOT rumored now that Bruce Willis will do a small part and play Joe Colton in it.
G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation (2012)
www.imdb.com
Directed by Jon M. Chu. With Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki.

So far its sounding a lot better and more star power than GI Joe 1......

and lets not forget the Live Action HISS tank is supposed to be in the movie or so John Chu rumored on his blog/facebook page...

Wasn't Mouse a character from GI Joe Extreme, or something?

Thanks for the link! It looks like the boat next to The Rock is supposed to be the KILLER WHALE.

Actually its supposedly the Water Moccasin according to Hisstank reports.

Hope they make a toy of it as it looks on screen and not a redo of the water moccasin though..

Funny how the lady had to wait after the Rock kissed her as she was blushing and ready to go home then...... as she said she expected a body slam but not a kiss.. He definitely made her day.. though she is HOT! I'd kissed her as well!

I was actually gonna write that it looked like the WHALE & The Water Moccasin had a kid - because it looked too low profile and sleek to be the WHALE, but it looked a little more BEEFY than the water Moccasin what with the TWIN fans. So, that makes sense. But you're right - we don't just need another Water Mocc repaint....

posted by Zombieguide (aka owner of JoeArmory) over on JoeCustoms...
if anyone wasnt aware, ive worked 12 days on this flick so far. 2 more to go this week before shooting wraps.

from everything ive seen over the past 3 months, this movie should be a billion times better, with MANY comic and toy references.
My reply was that seeing how the Director is a TRUE GI Joe fan I can hope and expect something like it being LOTS better than the first...

great link!

1) Adrienne Palicki - BABE - too bad Wonder Woman the tv show got cancelled before it even aired. She was looking sweet in them thar hotpants! Looking 4ward to seeing her as Lady Jaye.

2) Killer Whale, Water Mocassin - still a nice looking vessel.

3) Jon Chu - like on one of roguetiger's posts, director who's a fan of GI Joe, hopefully he'll do good by it. I wasn't completely disappointed by the first one, I was just happy a live action movie got made and I was grateful for Rachel Nichols - BABE - as Scarlett.

4) I was SOOO getting my Yo Joe until on the 2nd clip at 1:10 they JUST HAD TO MENTION THE BEEBS! I went from 12midnight to 6:30 in my pants in like half a second. Someone should wreak "Havoc" on that little "Mouse".

I borrowed your format, 80's Child, hope you don't mind... :)

That sucks, too bad more CGI would be bad for the crew and it would cost jobs.

Yeah- I was watching the DVD "extras" of ROC and Steven Sommers basically admitted that once he got the job, THEN he went and read some back-comics and watched some of the old cartoons. COME ON MAN, you can't hand the reigns of something so steeped in established cannon and fandom to some clueless newbie! So, if Chu really is a fan of Joe, there should be nowhere to go but up.

Nah, I don't mind 218 - if it works 4 U too, that's cool with me. :)

The guy who wrote the Resolute cartoons did the EXACT same thing.. he NEVER read or had GI Joe figures... and that story was a lot better than the movie was....story wise...

For Resolute, the producer's intention was to bring Warren Ellis aboard precisely BECAUSE he was outside of Gi Joe world; a fresh look.

You use the word "admitted" as if Sommers had this big secret that he hadn't been a fan of ARAH. At least he did say that his familiarity with GI JOE had been the 12 inch soldier dolls. I don't think there's anything wrong with not having been a fan beforehand. It all depends on how they approach the material in the present. Being too much of a fan can sometimes make it difficult to really be dynamic with the material, either as a writer or director.

The Rise Of Cobra

Cobra was not part of the 12 inch lore.

Let me officially change "admitted" to bragged.

My point - producers should have chosen better director - he made a decent action movie, but it wasn't REALLY the G.I. JOE a LOT of fans were hoping for. I agree though that you don't want to have TOO fanatical of a fan making the movie, because we all don't like the same aspects of the franchise equally. ROC wasn't horrible, but it could have been a lot better & if the director knew more of the KEY points of the franchise of ARAH, and more fans would have been pleased with outcome. But this has been debated to death already on the boards.

Bottom line - it use to be politics & religion, now it seems to be politics, religion, and Rise Of Cobra. This is precisely why I DON'T want them to make a MOTU live action movie after all (1987 doesn't count), because there's no way they could make one that would satisfy all the long-invested fans - like Lincoln said.

One things for sure...this one better be a better film or else Joe in films is done.
