I wanted to make a basic structure that could be used for multiple scenes. I built a 12"x2.5' crate, essentially, and used foam core board for removable walls which will allow for multiple room designs.

Additionally, I added gutter guard wire fencing behind the windows for that added jail effect. After I shoot the jail scenes, the main room will be turned into a lab and the smaller room will become a briefing area for the Joes.

Sheeooot. Awesome looking set, Luke! Great instructions, too...
Personally, if I tried to use a saw and lumber, I'd end up losing a digit or something, but those directions could probably be attributed to other materials as well.
Came out really nice, man!

I use a saw and lumber, but nothing like this.
All of my sets have wood frames, at the least.
This is nothing like my jail, though I think I prefer mine.
Where does one get foam core, anyway?

I got my foam core at Michaels, a craft store, I think places like Hobby Lobby and other hobby/craft stores carry it in various thickness.
I know the set looks dull, but its unfurnished. I plan to add a crapper and a bed. :D

Good luck finding a good toilet. I got lucky when I came across the one I'm using. It's perfect, but very unique. I shuffled it back and forth between the cells while shooting photos so it looked like there were three of them. :)

Actually, theres quite a few places locally that have a close-scale "throne"... Hobby Lobby and Crafts 2000 has 1/18th scale doll house stuff, and then at a smaller scale is this all wood "make your own bathroom" toy kit at the Anderson's grocery store which is cheapest but comes with alot of extra stuff I can't use.
Or there's this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2575&item=3184536982&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V
But its Canadian... eww... :p

I think it's amazing and the shots you took in it are great. Thanks for the tips.

The Hobby Lobby stuff I've seen is not 1/18 scale. It's made for 5" figures. Some of their stuff works with Joes, like the pool table, but none of the "sitting" furniture looks right, in my experience.

Well, I don't really plan to have any of my Cobras or Joes "seen" using the pisser, just have it in the foreground or background and let foreshortening take effect.
Also, if you look up toilets on ebay in toys, theres a couple guys selling 1/18th scale ones. ;)
