Well like I said, we don't really NEED deaths to have a mature GIJoe story.
Larry Hama's comics pretty much proved that. The series made it over one hundred issues with very few deaths. And even following the Trucial Abysmia storyline, there were few deaths. Yet up until Ninja Force's instroduction, the comic kept going strong with great stories and great characters. |

Agree, Ellis has been given alot of cred for stories he actually had little to do with, I tend to be turned off when I see his name on a comic. I was worried when I heard he had the helm on this, and looks like I was right. Of course saying that in many circles gets turned into people saying "bitching" on other boards. I had forgotten he did that in Doom 2099, but I remember it happening, totaly went downhill after that. Quote:
Les not starting a fight but recently there was an interview with Larry Hama (I believe it was on Generalsjoes.com) where he said his run on GI Joe was "Just a job." In fact I was kind of surprized how calous he seemed about it. |
For the people taking it hard about writers claiming G.I. Joe was "Just a job" you have to remember that it was. The comic was a 24 page toy commercial, I'm pretty sure Hama would've rather done other stuff if he was given the choice. It just so happens that G.I. Joe saved his job at Marvel (and then being the only guy who knew the characters saved it again)

I just realized that I got so carried away ranting, I never gave my opinion on Destro's voice! Personally, I had nothing against it. I've always felt that Arthur Burghardt was trying to do Sean Connery back in the old days -- he just wasn't very good at it. The voice in Resolute was suitably deep, so the accent didn't really bug me at all.
Okay, now I'm off to the main Resolute thread to give my thoughts on it... |
