i'm with Carlos. they used it all the time in the comic and i've never seen an affordable scale one. |
1/17 Hercules! Somebody should try
Would somebody try to build this?
Giant 1/17 Scale C-130 Hercules Plans and Templates It is just a little bigger than the 1/18 figures. |
Hh-33 Ch-33

Just curious, but if someone were to make the parts, like as for a 1/18th scale model kit, where the consumer assembles it, would there be a market?
I think the way things are going, no one is going to do what we really desire, unless we do it ourselves. |
Rambo, Death, you guys go ahead and build that C-130, and I'll tell you haw cool it looks:)
Rambo, thats actually a CH-53 helicopter. And very much a whole bunch of yes, I would love to see that thing built in 1/18. I't big enough for a VAMP or two to pull inside and has the lifting capabilities to pich up a couple of Humvees or an APC. |
What does the Joes and Cobra forces need? After looking at the 2010 Toy Fare photos, I now have some thoughts to share with everyone.
In another thread I wrote "I don't see Cobra marching into a city, taking the highways, occupying large open spaces like an airfield with Alley Vipers. I see that more for regular troops with HISS's, Stingers, and even STUN's." I see Alley Vipers moving around in places like NYC where there are lots of tall, brick buildings, fire escapes, dark and narrow alleys between the firewalls of old buildings, warehouse battles, railyard battles, Alley Vipers securing or protecting quays at a port city. I don't see them very well roaming around NYC or New Orleans, or Chicago with a Rage. It's so wide. I don't see Alley Vipers roaming around a narrow European city with streets as old as medieval times. Or streets like those in Bangkok, or those of Guatemala City. It's so wide and ground clearance isn't very great. Urban warfare in my mind has a lot of cornors, narrow spaces, and rubble. What I want to see are vehicles that can fare well in an urban environment. For instance, an armored Ferret. Or something more futuristic like a mini-tank. Or even a mini-tank on legs. What I liked about GI Joe when it first started was the attention to vehicle designs that could actually be. The VAMP with remote operating guns is not that far fetched. Helicopter pilots, like those of a COBRA attack helecopter has the ability to aim the gun remotely via the helmet. A HAL is more far fetched, but still for it's size to be believable to be designed by some secret government project. So, what I want to see truly are futuristic stuff, but practical. Things that could be 10 or 20 years from now. It seems more robotic and A.I. type stuff are coming about today. UAV's exist now. Talk is of more advanced UAV fighters. Cobra has BAT's. How about BAT like vehicles, such as T-1's. I'm glad the HISS has done away with a man in the turrent. I never did like an unprotected gunner. What I also want to see are more interchangeable weapons. Classic HISS's with other weapon systems besides a cannon. Missile pods, gattling gun, combinations being added to a HISS. The 2010 HISS has these holes like the Rhino does, which I imagine are for adding weapons. So I guess that's good. And what about the Firebat? It used to have a Terror Drome for launching. How it's gonna launch now without one? There needs to be a trailer to tow a Firebat to location and launch it. So, if I had my way, I would arm my Cobra espcially with mini-tank like robot walkers. Larger versions to take a driver. Interchangeable weapons, and the ability to load up cargo. And lastly, the Joes do need a good advanced attack chopper. Something like Airwolf. The new Dragonfly doesn't cut it for me. It looks last century. The Dragonhawk would be good. Anyway, that's enough for now. ;-) . |
What we need
Definitely an Osprey with a chin turret. There is a new amphibious landing craft called the EFV. it fits 20 marines. Has operators on both sides and a bushmaster cannon that seats two in the middle It does 20 nots with the bowplane. A giant hovercraft that can carry joe vehicles like the ones the Marines have would be nice. How bout transformers that change into joe and cobra vehicles. More ladies would be nice . A joint strike fighter for cobra. The engine would move 90 degrees and lift off vertically. Russian BMP .25th snakeeyes collection with dickie sapersten and wade collins plus nva figure as a set with ss, stallker and ramon.Navy seals the movie set with Charlie Sheen this would help for bail money and would come in the Beirut mission camoflauge and the President from 24 would be right with the set. Hey he was in the movie with a moustache

rds13601 just gave me an idea. How about Civilians? A 6 pack of mixed civilians. If they don't like that, they can call them "Cobra Citizens" . We need more people to make a story. In the comics, there was always some shadowy politician or CIA guy messing with the Joes from time to time....that's what they need! More non-Joe and non-Cobra figures. hell, throw a CG Fred head on a SDCC Cobra Commmander in blue or black suit and "poof" you got one. Throw Redstars head on a SDCC Comic Con James McCullen and "poof" you have 2! see how easy that is...As Outrider says, Hasbro LOVEs recycling shit...

hmmmm, you know, there's this great channel on youtube called dynamicpara.
http://www.youtube.com/user/dynmicpara he has a ton of neat videos with helpful ideas to make the US Military better. i'd suggest looking at some and seeing if we can utilize them for the Joes and/or Cobra forces. the channel does in fact have a video of a trailer towed support fighter that can be air dropped. oh, and about more women in G.I. Joe. i agree. more Women, especially pilots! |
Idea!
Agree with the civilians idea. What about this kind of vehicles?
