The problem with making civilian figures is simply that there is no market for them. Or at least not big enough for Hasbro to bother with. It would be great, but you'd be better off making your own customs from the available figures lines already out there.
However, I think the nature of this post is simply what types of vehicles could the the Joe team use. Cool as that pit mine dump truck is, why would a military organization, especially one considered a Special Operations Unit, need a pit mine dump truck? The bloody things are three lanes wide for one thing, not really an easily tranportable piece of equipment. There are engineer units that use heavy equpiment and earth movers, but even those are generally comouflage versions of civilain models, with the exception the ACE and SEE. Any dump truck these units usually have is based on the existing chassis of five ton and seven ton trucks which are roughly the same size as a civilain dump truck. |
what we need
You could have Crimson Guard agents in civillian clothes, you could have the jugglers. Or the bodyguards that protected that doctor in Marvel issue 1 or a 25th October Guard in a set. Oh and Dump trucks were used by Iraqi Sunni fighters in 2003 when we approched Bagdhad. They were bullet proof from the side. They also made excellent car bombs. The Sunnis would throw every explosivive they could find in the back and used it to ram and get through US checkpoints. A formidable suicde weapon

Hadn't heard that about the dump trucks, I know when I was in Somalia the bad guys would pull that same kind of crap. They'd mount a 50 cal in the back of their pick ups or what ever conveyance with what ever kind of weapon with what ever kind of makeshift armour. We called them Mad Max vehicles.
But the point is there, that a group of bad guys that isn't a traditional fighting unit used a make shift vehicle for their means. The Joes, on the otherhand, are part of a standing army and would have equipment that is intended for military use or civilian use adapted for the military. The only way I could see the Joes using a pit mine dump truck is if they comendeared it as their only means of getting a job done, similar to the end of the movie Navy SEALs. The jacked some dude's Mecedes as means to escape. |
what we need
Very true. You were in somalia? My best friend was with the 511th Mp company as part of the 10th Mountain division. Thank you for your service. It must have been hard with all the technicals and everyone carrying a gun. You have my respect. Nice Avatar

There's the AT-RT from Star Wars that sortof fits the bill. Seems undergunned/underarmored, but it could be modded. A Vulcan cannon would be a perfect replacement. I'm not a big Star Wars expanded universe buff, but the AT-PT is getting closer. My biggest complaint about Cobra is their lack of a real helicopter! Since the earliest comics and throughout the cartoons, they've had a type of Huey/cargo chopper. Seems like Chap Mei or someone made one, and some have customized them, but I can't find a pict of one anywhere. So they need a chopper. And a battle tank. |
On a second thought, GI Joe and Cobra need furniture, computers and that kind of stuff. Weapons too but those are supply by Marauder's.

Carlos is right about the furniture, but i remember always seeing Joe accessory packs on clearance when Hasbro had them, so i'm guessing we'll never see those again. remember those damned accessory packs with a blue televiper pack and brown scanner...fools! anyway, if Hasbro did make furniture, it would probably be flourescent. |

I agree, we need the AC 130. |
A Joe submarine with vehicle landing capabilities.
A modern self propelled Joe artillery piece with a rotating turret that can target and fire on the move. Both Cobra and Joe need a transport aircraft for airborne ops and air deployed vehicles. |
I had a thought today that Hasbro could come out with a figure that is a remote vehicle expert and include a Battlefield rover, U.A.V. and etc... accessories
