Any more O-rings at retail plans from Hasbro?
I know last year they did the "Then & Now" with O-Ring Snow Job, the Battle Bear, the Rockslide, and new-style Snow Job, and I heard Rumors of a 1982-esq Hawk, MMS, and their new counterparts but never saw THAT one at retail - only the MMS done in Cobra colors.
Does anyone know of any plans Hasbro has to release any more O-Ring Joes besides Snow Job from last year? |

No the molds are all destroyed. |
So that's gonna make all the original ones floating around on ebay and such even rarer...
And that means that Snow Job will go down in history as the last/most recently made 3 3/4" Joe (since all the 25ths etc. measure closer to 4") made from an original mold.... So I guess it's up to Snow Job to "turn out the lights" - joke's on us I guess. :( |
There's a new line coming soon called SK Omega that's going to be O-Rings, but I think it's only going to be available to online retailers.

No, a good amount of the molds were destroyed, not all of them. The Club is even considering one last o-ring set for 2013. http://generalsjoes.com/2011/07/23/...ollectors-club/ |
Also in one of the question and answer forums a while back it was mentioned that Hasbro said NO to O-ring period.. The Then & Now sets they were thinking about were mostly using the comic pk molds not the original molds...so it wouldn't have been the 82 esque look anyways but a comic pk look of the uniform... They did have some test shots of ones but it was only Duke, SE, and Storm Shadow if I remember correctly..
So other than the SK Omega figs and a OCCASIONAL Corp figure or set here and there yea its pretty dead.. Unless Mattel ups their figures with the 70's articulation and starts using O-rings for their super hero lines.. ..yea RIGHT... Mattel sticks with the 5 pts of articulation and thats it. |

Project ARAH O-ring

Negative, the ARAH molds are gone. Hasbro said so this last Q&A. The only molds that would be o-ring are the JvS or VvV or DTC ones. |

I do remember that now that you mention it, but really are the Q&A's even that trust worthy? They've also said there would be more Sgt. Slaughters (there wasn't), they've said we wouldn't be getting Python Patrol or Snow Serpents during 25th (we did), and their story on molds is always changing too. I want to recall them giving a different answer to that closer to the Joecon when we first heard about them destroying molds. I guess it just comes down to who you trust more, the club or Hunter PR, both of whom have been unreliable when asked about stuff like this. Personally I just dont put much faith in Hunter PR these days. ;) |
If Hasbro wants, can rebuild the molds.

Hasbro DON'T WANT TOO..... You can't rebuild melted down and broken molds ... plus they've already said NO MORE O-RINGS almost 2 yrs ago after the Then & Now set was done which didn't sell very well til clearance...they are dead from Hasbro...PERIOD... Those that like O-rings will have to either buy used or go to other places and pay a fortune for them unfortunately...OR hope that a O-ringed person gets to be head of GI Joe and brings them back again somehow but not seeing that likely.... also read the comments http://www.joecustoms.com/forums/vi...+hasbro#p200634 to see what was said at Joecon about the molds.... |
The Then & Now sets were just a bad concept. Who would want to buy a two-pack of the same character? Glad the Snow Job set came out though, I went splits with someone who wanted the "Now" items and I got the classic Snow Job and Polar Battle Bear. :D
