Toxic Waste Lab Pictures
First of all, I teach science and was playing around with making different types of slime. I added zinc oxide, highlighter ink, and gloaway paint. Each one of these ingredients gives a different level of "glowing-in-the-dark". It's a polymer, so all the water gets locked inside for an easy clean up. You can even put it on your Joes! Take a look in the how-to to make your own. After I made the slime, I thought how awesome it would be in a toxic waste dump. Even better, a radioactive lab under Cobra Mountain. Here's what progressed:

that's pretty neat. Now we can all make our own safe glow in the dark goo. The set design looks great too, I didn't even notice that you had put those cartons there until I look over it once more.

OOOO fun with chemicals :D . This is a great idea, I may have to try this some time. Thanks for sharing.

Nice set up! I really like the ooze, and the placement of the props. I always found that Toxo-Viper figure difficult to pose. Did u find this?

given that it contains ink, does it stain when it touches stuff or skin?
and, for how long does it last? does it dries or loose consistency? I found at my walmart a similar goo, but yours look very cool and it's homemade (well, I don't know about the zinc oxide  ) |

Good question! This stuff is scientifically called a polymer, so it builds up strands of interlocked molecules and sort of locks the liquid inside (whether it be ink, paint, or food coloring). As long as you knead it and let it set out for a few minutes on a paper towel or something, all of the ink that doesn't get "sucked" in will dry up. As for putting it on your Joes, it's pretty safe. The zinc oxide is the chemical that's in glow-in-the-dark stuff. I actually have zinc oxide in powder form available to me, but you can get the Gloaway brand paint at Wal*mart. It's a glow-in-the-dark paint that is also washable! Score! It washes right off if you happen to get it on something. And, it's made for plastic. The food coloring will stain your fingers when you get started, but it will get locked in, dying the glue the color you want. As far as duration of this stuff. If you keep it packed in a baggie, it will keep for weeks. If you leave it out, it will harden and shrink, because the water inside will evaporate over a couple of days. |
I made it

I made it, even the pic. |
