Which has always been Warren Ellis's M.O. (Ellis is a comic book writer who wrote Resolute, by the way). Back in around 1992 or '93, he took over writing Doom 2099 for Marvel Comics and killed off the entire supporting cast in his first issue! Killing characters off for no reason other than shock value is what he does, and for some reason people seem to think it's ingenious and clever, rather than the work of a hack who can't think of anything better to do with the characters.

Agree, Ellis has been given alot of cred for stories he actually had little to do with, I tend to be turned off when I see his name on a comic. I was worried when I heard he had the helm on this, and looks like I was right.
Of course saying that in many circles gets turned into people saying "bitching" on other boards.
I had forgotten he did that in Doom 2099, but I remember it happening, totaly went downhill after that.

what made it worse is that he openly admitted that he neither knew anything about gi joe, or cared. it was a job to him, and he doesnt care if the story continues and now we have no cobra higher ups to use.

Les not starting a fight but recently there was an interview with Larry Hama (I believe it was on Generalsjoes.com) where he said his run on GI Joe was "Just a job." In fact I was kind of surprized how calous he seemed about it.
