Our Joeverses:Volume 1:GI Joe
Okay everybody,I've been looking at a lot of Joe Custom and Dio- Sites and was inspired to talk about how each of us has our own "take" on Joe,Cobra, and misc.
So-Vol.1-How Do You See The GI Joe Team In Your "Joeverse"?
For me,first of all-it's still 1988-1989.The Soviet Union still exists, but Glasnost is in effect, and The Oktober Guard is more an enemy of Cobra than GI Joe.
I do not use the Movie as Background-( I like the Movie, but I view it as an "alternate Joeverse ) I do use Sgt. Slaughter and The Renegades, because I like them.
Joe Colton exists, but he is a retired "inspiration" for the Joes, not an Active-Duty Commander. Hawk is my GI Joe Commander, aided by Keel-Haul( Naval Ops C.O.) General Flagg III (Executive Officer & Pentagon Go-Between),Colonel Courage(Operations)Skystriker(Air Ops)Major Storm(Armored Vehicles and Logistics)Lt. Falcon(Intelligence). I do not use "Capt. Grid-Iron".Training is handled by Sgt. Slaughter & Beach Head, aided by some of the "First Thirteen". Duke is senior Enlisted Man and Top Sergeant, even though some Enlisted Joes technically "rank him",because he has vast combat leader experience and has earned the trust and respect of Hawk and the entire Team.Hawk has stated"Duke answers to ME,and ME ALONE." Duke ALWAYS calls the Officers "Sir",even when giving them orders.
Most Missions are lead by Duke,Stalker,Flint,Scarlett,or Lady Jaye.Falcon often leads missions, but usually leads the Recon Team to gather intelligence for his Teammates.
None of the Joes are dead in my Joeverse except General Flagg II (Flagg III's father) and Joe Trainee Mangler.
I see the GI Joe Team as a "Band Of Brothers And Sisters" that are sent on dirty Covert missions by a Pentagon and National Command Authority (NCA) that don't care about them and view them as Expendable.
Relationships:Flint and Lady Jaye are long-term lovers,Scarlett finds her Heart torn between Snake-Eyes and Duke.Cover-Girl has so far resisted all attempts at romance, and Jinx and Falcon are interested in each other.( my Falcon is the disciplined Green Beret from the comic, not "Duke's Half-Brother from the Movie" ).Bombstrike hasn't met anyone she likes romantically yet.
In my -verse,only trained Aviators can fly Skystrikers or X-30's,not the entire Team.
Well, that's about it! After everybody gets a chance to talk about the "GI Joe" side of their Joe-Verse,we will move on to Cobra, then to misc. matters. Please feel free to include Action Force,Commandos de Acao,or whoever is your "Joe" Team

Joe Verse
Sounds interesting, Good Topic Cappo MAX.
For a start I have two types of Joe Verse, theres one that exists among the A-Team and Dukes of Hazzard and the other more close to a real world terrorist fight for freedom.
Most of my dio's and stories are played out in date order. (I only started recently with series 1) Involving the original 13 Joes and the early years of cobra
At some point as the stories move on I hope to cover everyone as team members and eventually lead my own joeverse into a newer greater story.
Cobra are and will be on the recruitment drive and I keep tabs on both the rosters.
I see Storm Shadow as a bad guy and bad guy only, I also see Firefly as an Agent hired by Cobra on Missions that they need him.
My joeverse is kind of static right now because of my break away from "the joe world" however it is set to return soon with GIJOE: Series 1: Nerve Ending. Which is the 2nd story in my Series.
The world with the A-Team and DOH is a tad more laid back and open, allowing for cameo appearances by other toylines such as space precinct or star wars.
As for Action Force, they do exist in my original realworld joeverse along with GIJOE, it's just they only combat terrorism and the enemy in the uk/europe regions and regularly have brush ins with the Oktober Guard.
My Action Force team consists of real Action Force and UK Figures., Ripcord is and was never a Joe because he was born in Manchester, UK according to the UK Filecard and so he would only join the joes on a mission transfer (similar to Big Ben). I also have Sparta as part of my Action Force team. Again on International Transfer to the UK. She helps Tidal Wave (Custom) with the counter terrorism and coast guard watch as well as missions for intel and interception.
If I can think of anything else I will add again later. Destro and the IGs are seperate but still supply the bulk of cobra's weapons.

yeah, this is a great topic that i had thought about starting many times just to see what others do with their joes that i also do.
my joeverse is mostly influenced by the cartoons. by this i mean that most of the first two season missions happened in my world, although not in the way with all the comical unreal stuff. just think of the cartoons but it was all realistic. also, the comics are all stories that have happened in my world. except that is for the stupid snake eyes stuff where he took on all of cobra by himself, hardly any of the snake eyes stories from the comics have happened in my world. of course there have been many other missions other then those in the toons and comics. like the ones my cousins and i played out as kids, these unseen adventures are where many of my friendships and bonds have formed in my joe world.
no one save gen flagg is dead in my world (not gonna let some company who didnt play with the toys themselves tell me who i can play with). almost all figures exist in my world. cobra la does exist, they did give mindbinder the ability to create sapentor, cobra commander, however was never part of them. the mega monsters are not aliens in my world, they would be cobra la creatures if i had them. i also use a lot of customs in my world, a lot of monsters and star wars, the hulk, most of these are also cobra la. i use other figures to form dreadnoks, such as mechanic from bionic six, scarab is a doctor in cobra la. the customs i use most are customs of me and my friends who are the major players in my world, i never enjoyed pretending to be anyone, i liked myself as i was and wanted to be me and not jordan, ali, tyson, jerry rice or whoever. in my joeverse i am top player, my friends are second, a lot of my fave joe caracters are there also, but im top, im the snake eyes, im the duke.
as for rank, hawk is first and flagg is second. i know most use flagg as first, but last i checked on the file cards hawk outranked flagg. i have a 3rd general, graywolf, hes leader of a side group, not a splinter cell or anything, just a group much like oktober guard. i go by the file cards for the rest of the rank. although duke is under hawk, then flint, slaughter, beach head and stalker, they are not the highest ranking joes. for example wild bill outranks them all, but he takes REQUEST from duke and the others but at anytime he does not agree, he puts them in place. as far as rank goes, theres going to be some big changes in my world, some are going to be promoted and some demoted. thats will have to wait until later for my dios.
i see the joes as more of friends and not the army group they were in th comics. i much liked the way they were in the toons, being friends and not so formal. scarlett is in love with both snake eyes (people talk about cobra la not being realistic) and duke both (yeah, shes easy in my world). lady jaye and flint have been dating on and off forever, but theres always an open door if things are bad between them. there is no stupid cover girl and shipwreck thing. jinx and budo are not married but have been dating since she and falcon broke up(loser). bombstrike is single. destro and the baroness are always a thing, zarana and mainframe have a thing, but much like scarlett she sees a lot of others on the side. bazooka and alpine are best friends, as are letherneck and wetsuit, as well as some of the other tag teams.

I basically follow the comics, Marvel through DDP. Being a huge comics fan anyway, I'm used to comics being the "official" story for things (LOVING Buffy Season 8!). I like some of the characterisations from the 'toon, especially for guys who didn't get much face-time in the comic (which DDP has been incorporating anyway), but since the characters were created by Larry Hama and the comic came first I refer to that as "the" story of the Joe team. So dead in the comics means the figure goes in my "Drawer of the Dead" and only sees the light for flashbacks...
Because there's so many Joes who didn't see much (or any) action in the comics, and many missions that could be happening alongside the ones we've read, I like the challenge of creating stories that can be interwoven with the comics, expanding on things there or just bringing in new stuff.
Having grown up with "Action Force: International Heroes" where the filecards (and, to an extent, Marvel UK comics) changed many birthplaces to make the team truly international, when the Marvel US series ended with the government shutting down the Joes I went back to the Action Force concept. Incorporating elements from the old Action Force vs Red Shadows days and the team style of Marvel UK, I saw Action Force as an international anti-terrorist group with some ties to the UN, based in the UK/Europe. They'd expand to fill the anti-Cobra void left by the Joes, even bringing in former Joes as specialists when the missions called for them. The existing Action Force roster was basically any character from the Palitoy days (including Americans like Blades, since it IS an international organisation) and I added any non-US citizen Joes who couldn't have easily been integrated into the US military after the Joe team shut down.
I still have Action Force, with its ranks again swelling when the Joe team was downsized for the America's Elite series, and I've also come up with stories for many of the "reserve" Joes which would run concurrently with AE (a little like the Special Missions one-shots, but with a twist). Hopefully someday everyone'll get to see these stories in an Epic Dio-Saga and until then I hope DDP doesn't bring General Flagg III into the comics continuity otherwise I'll have to start over!
I also have the Oktober Guard out there as Russia's elite special missions squad, now consisting of just Red Star, Dragonsky, Misha and Big Bear. They'd work alongside the Joes or Action Force due to current political climates as well as past personal allegiances.
Oh, and when I say I do stuff with the characters who never made it into the comics, I don't mean the most out-there sci-fi stuff. I'm with Hama on disregarding Cobra-La and while I don't own any Lunartix I'm in no hurry to ever get any... Mega-Monsters, though, conceptually actually work as early V-Troop experiments. Even if the figures look daft!

my Joe team, has been on and off in missions in the past, most of the time i will follow the comic or the cartoons, had many missions that duke of flint would lead in too Battle. but here's the twist of it all, I had hawk working for C.C.
at the time following the cartoons i didn't have all the Joe's that were needed so the joes i had were join to replace the ones i needed, every joe at that time saw some action,
around 87 going in to 88, NIGHT FORCE came to play,i love this team, i had budo change over too me, and hawk is still working for cobra, so my new adventures of gi joe was SGT,Anthony and the NIGHT FORCE, now this whole thing about C.C retreating all the time got me Bord, so a new enemy was born, and played a BIG part in my Joeverse, he was know to be C.C,brother, i had extreme missions after one another, i had other joes that joined the ranks to help get this mad man, this has gone on for the longest time.
and yes Tina did play a big part of it too,
at this point i want to do something with a twist, it was around 89 to 91 i think.
and a new enemy came around, nothing to do with cobra, the joes were in big trouble, hawk was found out by duke, and the two partner up, i took a lot of joe that were used in the early day, back in action, it was one big war they were facing, and facing each other, this new enemy was called Sword Cross. and these guys mean business, i put cobra off to the side for a bit there, but they too stared playing back in there rolls, i cant remember every thing i did in that war, but some big changing were about to happen...
this i remember like it was yesterday, the day hawk was taken out by C.C. at this point flagg had a figure, even tho hes was dead, but i don't recall ever following that. after hawks death, flagg made me general of gijoe, we had missions here and there, but ti was like i still got the joes every time they came out up to 94 when it ended, but at that point i was on and off with it, i went girl happy,
to this day i still collect, and make my own Joe's, just got to get a chick that likes what i like, well what your going to do? i think shes out there?
