Flickr Question
Greetings all!
I'm just curious. I don't have a Flickr account, or anything other than Photobucket (for hosting pics that I link to from within JoeDios.) So I am curious, why is there such popularity for Flickr as a site to post Joe pics, instead of a site like this one that specializes in Joes? What makes Flickr attractive to Joe enthusiasts?

I use Flickr much more than Joedios for a few of reasons:
1. The 0-Ring crew is all there, and so you don't get people going "ur pic would be better with 25th figs"
2. It works 98% of the time, JD was down for a large portion of time twice in the recent months
3. It's more personalized, with JD you add something to the site and it's gonna be pushed back three pages within a day. It's easier to keep track of what your friends are posting as well. Plus at least with dudes I know it's posted on Flickr days if not weeks before JD.
4. You get to meet people who don't frequent joe sites or see people's other hobbies/interests.

I agree with ian on all he said! I will add a couple of things! Flickr doesn't really have a size limit and I can upload 35 pictures at once and separate them into four or five categories like dios, outside, o-ring,25th ect. So when i look at vaders pictures or someone else's there usually huge and you can see so much more than in a small picture. As well they have a add note feature that lets you write a note on the persons picture. So for instance On one of ians picture I can point out how minty his decals are or a shine of light of a helmet that I liked! Its also were alot of the oldschool fellers have gone. I as well already have one because of my fascination with graffiti and art as well!
cheers DD

I agree with above as to why I use it. I can keep up with all my friends photos with updates sent right to my Iphone with new pics. Also, I have heard from other people that build war models and things like that. I have learned a few things from them and got comments from people about my shots from people that do other things other then just Joes. I also have gotten very much into collecting 12in WWII figures and though I post a few shots here, I realize that side of my interests is not really for this site and can post as much as i want over there. I still post any shots that I think would be good here . Also, half the time I have to refresh joedios 10 or more times for it to come up and I get frustrated when I only have a minute or so free at work to look around and it will not come up. This is my main Joe site that I frequent though.

I don't think Flickr is more popular than JoeDios. They are diferent, there you have more liberty to post pictures from diferent lines that JoeDios doesn't support.

Ian, DD, Mike and Luis are all right. There's a ton of 12" groups. Craig and Xander administer an o-ring specific group. There are a ton more international collectors who we never see here, unfortunately! The big thing for me, though, is the organization of photos. Ian did an awesome series with Spirit and Storm Shadow and DD did an amazing series about Spirit as well and the photostream format makes these diostories easier to follow, the sizes can be easily enlarged and the commenting sometimes feels a little more real time. Another plus is you meet collectors who don't necessarily do dios and just like to shoot pics of new customs, acquisitions, etc. These shots don't have to go in "collections" and maybe get lost. Here, we have a more defined community, Flickr has a little more diversity of subject matter and styles.

Flickr helps keep my pics in order. My HD was getting full and so I uploaded them to there to save them.I do burn them and then delete but they are easier to find right away instaed of looking though 100's of Data disk.
Like others have said, I post other pic of my hobbies like my McFarlane NHL players. You meet different people even though I enjoy everyones here company :P
