Question Why the collection section is not on the home page?

I think the quality brand of joedios are our pics.
Why the collection section is so down rated?

Post Collection Section.

Ok.
Let me start by saying that the first interest of us collectors and enthusiasts is to get the best pictures up on the front page. now that is clear I'd also like to state that most of us posting up on the site take the site name and intentions as word.

The definition of diorama -
1. a scene, often in miniature, reproduced in three dimensions by placing objects, figures, etc., in front of a painted background.
2. a life-size display representing a scene from nature, a historical event, or the like, using stuffed wildlife, wax figures, real objects, etc., in front of a painted or photographed background.
3. a spectacular picture, partly translucent, for exhibition through an aperture, made more realistic by various illuminating devices.
4. a building or room, often circular, for exhibiting such a scene or picture, esp. as a continuous unit along or against the walls.

Now let me emphasize that although there is a place for collection pictures, I can't quite understand how they fit into a diorama meaning. Sure if you have say for example a score of 100 cobra soldiers all lined up in a cobra castle with cobra commander stood in front of them.. that would take some effort... but alot of the collection pictures aren't like that..
For the most part we wanted to avoid having window sill and living room table pictures, throw a guy on a random piece of furniture and take a shot thats of 0 quality and no effort. These are the type of shots we (majority) just didnt want on the home page...
I guess it comes down to what you prefer to look at, and most people here appreciate the time most of us put into our pictures, you only have to look at the front page now to see that it's improved drastically in quality from what it was like 2 or so years ago. The home page was littered with random shots sometimes 8 or so in a row of somebodies living room table with figures on.

This might sound like i'm being overly harsh on those that like collection pictures, but i'm not.. if you dont believe me, take a look at my flickr account, theres probably over half of my 2000 photos are collection based, where they are marvels, dcs or gi joe propped up in a light box or side somewhere.. but i dont post them here because I dont think they belong on the homepage.

It's great that we have a collection section, I can't answer why there isnt a link there, from what i recall last time when GS was mod she did put a link someplace or a news bulletin to link to the collection section.. but it's long since fell down in the archives.

Collection pictures do have a place, but the site is predominantly geared towards dio enthusiasts.. that means people who put time and plenty of effort into the setup and execution, not just the pose or the figure selection.. everything from the camera setup to the figures background and environment.

I still think that the collection section should have a link on the front page like reviews, dios and photos. I noticed that the pictures that get the most views are often the pictures with most figures in them. And people often comment on the figures themselves not only on the diorama, so obviously the intrest is there.
I think that seperating the collection section and the photo section was an excellent move but the collection section deserves its own link on the front page!

it wouldnt matter to me one way or another if there was a link or whatever on the front page. that is mainly up to hammerfel and graham. ive only looked at the collection section one time myself. its nice that people have hundreds of the same troop builder, but its not something i want to look at myself. that doesnt mean that there are those who do and that it shouldnt be on the front page. ive saw this same thread 3 or 4 times, its really best to ask eight graham or hammerfel.

It's not a forbidden or hidden section.
As far as I am aware there isnt so much a problem as to putting a collection tab at the top.. but i'm not the site owner, and i don't maintain costs either so if the owner has to pay extra to have that done its going to come down to his decision is final.

The best thing to do is to email him directly or contact him directly with a polite well worded email and ask that the collection section get some consideration.

Last time this was discussed the alternative to having that news bulletin was posted and everyone seemed happy. The problem is with news bulletiins, when latest news is posted it's pushed the collection section piece further down.

Rich

P.S just a quick update neo Joe. I've PM'd both Hammerfel and Sonneilon to get an answer on what the stance is on this, so hopefully I or they will have a definite answer for you soon.
