ROC, POC, Resolute and 25th....
Being that we have the ROC,POC, Resolute and 25th, how do we decide which to use?
Here's what I plan;
25th Anniversary; These are the Original Joes. No explanation necessary.
ROC/POC; Most of these figures will be used for my new GI Joe International. For Example;
ROC Hawk; General Quaid, CO
ROC Sgt Stone; Sgt Stone : Security officer
ROC Duke; Captain Channing : Company Commander
ROC Heavy Duty; Sgt Mugabe : Heavy Weapons Specialist
ROC Ripcord; Sgt Wayans : Advanced weaponry
ROC Cobra Commmander; Carnage : Cobra General and Intel Specialist
Roc Dr. Rex; Dr. Rex : Cobra Science Officer.
POC Spirit; Billy : Tracker and survival specialist.
POC Dusty; Schamal : Desert Expert
POC Recondo; Bear Trap : Jungle Expert
POC Duke; Snake : Jungle commando
POC Beachhead; Ruckus Urban: Warfare Specialist
POC Storm Shadow; Thuggee : Assassin
Resolute;
Resolute Stalker; Sgt Jean-Jacques : part of GI Joe International.
These are just examples. the reason I'm gonna do this is I'm tired of getting a Duke, Storm shadow, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow every wave. So I'm trying to expand my Joe Verse using all these different Versions.

That's a pretty good plan Frank! But come on, the next Snake Eyes (wave 3) looks kinda cool

I just call them Modern Era/ME.
Getting multi-version of the so called main characters is nothing new and will continue to happen as long as we have G.I.Joe.

This is why I try to have only one of each character, except between O-ring and ME versions, but there are a few that are just too cool not have. I've got every ME version of Firefly, but that's just because he's my favorite baddie.
I really like the 25th Spirit, but I also really like the PoC Spirit. Since 25th Spirit is the look we've all come to know and love, I call PoC Spirit "Iron Knife." Not very original, I know, but it's appropriate.
Recondo is my Recondo, but Beach Head and Stalker are tough for me, because I like the Resolute Stalker and the PoC BH, but also like their 25th counterparts, so I'll use either one whenever I feel like it.
I do have both five pack and 25th Lady Jayes and their both Lady Jaye simply because they are great figures and Lady Jaye rocks and there's no such thing as too much Lady Jaye.
Great Code Names/MOSs for your renamed guys Frank.
i haven't been able to find any pictures of Snake Eyes wave 3...links anyone?

Some people, when trying to avoid thinking about those things that cause them pain, turn to drink, or perhaps food, or drugs... I turn not to any of those... I collect action figures, turning my mind to the hunt, so that I might find a mote of peace... Over the years, I've found that alcoholism is much more socially acceptable by far.

I tend to like the ROC figs for urban shots or shots of a Joe compound or the Pit. The 25th guys are themselves and extras morph into specialists. I just haven't gotten into the poc guys and i'll never get the one I wanted, the Cobra Whirlwind and range viper. I am an American success story. I don't mind doubles since I like to either do what Frank did and create new teams, or I like to pull obscure characters from the comics and make those.

I pretty muck keep with the cartoon line structure with my 25th. the 25th is my main focal point when i do stuff. I absord the ME type stuff into it as mostly advanced types of those troops. I dont actually own any Resolute yet, mostly POC, ROC, 25th troop builders with few main characters as a chain of command. I have to stock up on Females and others to keep up with affirmitive action. I try to have an equal opportunity Cobra army.

Man, the possibilities are endless. Since I've just gotten (yes that's a word here in Boston) into Joes this year (age 41), there is no way for me to get all these figures from different era's/production. So, I just try to incorp these figures into my world using the Joe's vs Cobra theme as much as possible.
I'm a realist and more of a hobbist that a G.I. Joe follower. I will say as time moves along I appreciate the Joe story line more and more. Hey, I've even bought a couple comics and record the ARAH cartoon.
When I buy a figure I try to keep one original and then if it seems appropriate I will customize a complimenting team. Someone like POC Firefly, Spirit or Recondo I wouldn't though, they are stand alone characters.

I like the use of different clothes/outfit on different missions... eg. RoC reactive impact armor is a black/night/urban ops outfit (just change the head and you have different character).
Some I just rename if I already have a version I like, like the PoC Spirit is my Dart, and 25th spirit is himself or 25th comic pack Beach-head is himself, while PoC version is Wreckage... or they could as easily be both beach-heads just in different mission (25th for jungle etc and PoC for urban combat/assault).
Some I make customs of eg. PoC Duke is going to be my Tunnel-rat when I get an appropriate head for him. I try not to alter the original figure too much, since I suck at painting/sculpting and if I change my mind I want to be able to go back to the original.
Some core characters like Snake-eyes, SS, CC, Destro, Baroness, Zartan etc. will have different outfits for different missions, so I dont mind if I have multiple versions... Like paris pursuit versions can easily pass for civilian clothes in densly populated areas, cos running among cities in full combat gear is kinda an attention catcher.
But I still havent found a purpose for the PoC stormy cos' I just cant see him wearing an outfit like that...Desert or no desert.
