Why so silent?
I was away from the Joe world for a year or so. Been back 7 or 8 months now. Coming back I have noticed something, that being that the forum chatter on here is all but dead. what's the deal with that? We use to have so much to say, or so many questions to ask. Has the interest of Joes died down so much?

That, usual lack of product, and movement to other things like Facebook with the conversations.

I thought it was always pretty dead in the forums. I come to JoeDios for the photos so it doesn't matter much to me. Maybe if there were some timely news reporting discussion might pick up.

If you go back about 3 years there was plenty of talk here on the forums. I remember it being 09 when it started to go down because of where I was working. We always wrote about new figures coming out, and 10-15 people would comment on that. and keep on replying. We would even sometimes rant about things that weren't totally Joe related and again 10-15 people would jump on and start commenting. We would swap stories on here about our Joe memories, what we got for Christmas or even what we wanted in a Joe movie. It was common to see several threads going strong each day with 10-20 people commenting back and forth.

In addition to the reasons the guys said above, most of the action on JD is in the image and Dio stories posts. There are lots of news sites out there. If someone would like to volunteer to post news, I'm all for it. I made JoeDios to preserve the art of GI Joe Diorama photography, and back then JoeCustoms was the main site for Dio photos, and they deleted threads after 90 days of inactivity.
Now, Flickr and Facebook also preserve the art of Dio photography, which makes me very happy. I just couldn't tolerate seeing epic dio stories purged from the web forever. Imagine if the images of our current, former and passed members were deleted after 90 days! What a tragedy that would be!

been thinking the same thing but...
Agreed, the boards are very quiet these days. In looking at my own situation, maybe the answer is simply that we're all a heck of lot busier these days. As I've stated here a few months, buying a house and getting ready for baby are huge time drains on Joe-ing. I gotta believe that I'm not the only one dealing with life. With a troubled economy and people trying to make sure they can put food on the table and Joes on the workbench, I'm sure a lot of people are simply too busy to post.

That is what worries me. There have been a lot of great work done over the years and I would hate to see them just vanish. I think of Craig (outrider) when I think of this.

You know, I never thought about that. I know I have cut back on my Joe spending because of the economy. I would say that is a bog factor. Also as you said everyday life, that was why I was all but gone for about 2 years.

That is similar to me, I just had to change jobs and the new one doesn't give me a regular schedual, as such I never know when I've got free time and I am going to be on here.
