I collect 1:18 scale for multiple reasons: - They're generally compatible with everything I've collected since childhood
- As above, vehicles & playsets are prolific
- Small size helps with storage
- New purchases are cost-effective, though some companies are pricey
My GIJoe collection is O-ring. Anything modern I picked up was for vehicles or customs in other lines. I've got some more modern styled figures from Star Wars, Marvel, Marauder Inc, PTE, DC, Men In Black, basically anybody who'll still make 1:18 figures & accessories.

3 3/4" is what I prefer....I get annoyed at 1:18 stuff. Scale purists contributed to making modern era stuff incompatible with 20+ years of ARAH stuff, then they complain "We need a Sky Striker that can fit modern figures". So you got companies saying they make 3 3/4" but are really making 1:18 stuff. What's compatible is debatable and based on personal preference, of course.
12" has become priced out of existence for the most part, that is with cloth clothing, not some shampoo bottles. The last great age of 12" at retail was late 90's/early 2000's.
6" limits what vehicles can be made. Vehicles were a big part of ARAH. $20 per figure is too much for me to ever care.

I like to collect a little of everything, so I have happily bought stuff from all three mentioned scales.
But 3 3/4" was my first love and definitely my preference whether actual GI Joe products or compatible toylines. The selection of vehicles and playsets really is the best reason for this scale.
However if I had to start an action figure collection from scratch today I would go for 6" scale. With a full selection of great Marvel & Star Wars characters, and now some Joes as well, this would seem like the best option to me.

1/18, as I am heavily invested in money, time, vehicles, figures, storage, everything. I'm buying the Classified figures because they look fantastic, but I dont have a lot of room for them and large vehicles are pretty much out of the question in that scale. I'm concentrating on Acid Rain and JoyToy now for structures, figures, mechs and vehicles. I've got big plans, so we will see.

Mostly 1:18 for both Star Wars and GI Joe, both vintage and modern figures. Also have been buying Marauder figures and accesories.
I also collect 1:12, specially Star Wars and GI Joe Classified. Also have some Marvel Legends.
