Canadian GI Joe Convention?
I was just on Ebay and saw some figures and vehicles from the Canadian GI Joe convention. It had a chrome tank and some frankenjoes. It was celled the HATE set. Anyone else see or hear of these? Anyone know what HATE stands for?Maybe next year, I'll finally go to a Convention......THE CANADIAN ONE!! LOL!!

Past exclusives from the Joecon were pretty bloody awesome (especially Black Ice!), but this one was a bit underwhelming. HATE aside, it's all pretty easy to DIY these exclusives with some black dye, some paint and some Marauder Inc gear.
It doesn't help that I hate the Armadillo tank, and just slapping some Air Chariot guns on it doesn't really help make it look better...

When I first heard about this set I was interested, but on seeing it I was underwhelmed. Like Jay, I'm not a fan of the Armadillo, and the chrome finish on the HISS ruins it for me.

Agreed, I felt a bit underwhelmed as well. Although I must admit I'm constantly impressed by their dedication to the fanbase and the effort they put in providing Convention Exclusives every year!
I loved what they did with the previous ARAH figures though - I even made my own Black Ice since I had no chance to get one of theirs!

It was the first time that they have done a complete set with vehicles, usually it is only a couple of figures, and additionally this is a small group of guys doing these customs, not like the Hasbro sponsored Joe Con in the US. Even though the vehicles may not be up everyone's alley, I really have to commend these guys on the very hard work that they put in, not to mention I believe they only charged $150 CDN for the sets, I particularly like the fact that they got permission from Hasbro to do a newer version of Backstop, the only 'official' Canadian in the Joes. On a further note, this started as a small trade show, and as of this year became a full fledged convention. So that being said, like em or not, these are some of the rarest Joes that you can get your hands on.

You are absolutely correct, I meant no offense at all, the vehicles just ain't for me. I have nothing but admiration for the guys that put it all together.

Ditto for me. The Joe Con guys are great guys and I've nothing but the utmost respect for them, but the fact that the set included a chrome HISS (I've grown very hateful of chrome as a Transformers fan) and an Armadillo tank (which I never liked, even as a youth) just underwhelms me.
The Backstop figure is pretty awesome, though. It's just a shame I have to get the stupid Air Chariot and Armadillo if I want to get the parts to DIY myself one...

The chrome HISS would make a good parade tank for Cobra Commander in the turret wearing his battle helmet.

I saw a movie of that chrome HISS somewhere, it stood on a rotating disk with spotlights shining on it, and all the lights and glitter made it look just absolutely fabulous ! I loved it ! Okay, so perhaps the chrome won't stand the test of time, but it served its purpose: a shiny moment of glory for the HATE tank.
