I've actually done this myself too. I've been round the block with Marvel Legends.. I've seen the early figures from toybiz and nothing hasbro has done has come close to matching their quality. The figures always seem incredibly cheap.. the plastic is off and often deformed.
I've seen this in other lines done by hasbro too, so it's obviously something to do with hasbro's materials and production costs. Yet they seem to be the ones charging alot for their product?
I kind of covered this in my post at my forum not so long ago.. the 25th product has done little to impress me really, theres advantages to collecting them.. and advantages obviously for sticking to RAH.
My RAH collection is on the build again, as I look to pick up characters I'm only really investing in 1 or 2. Firefly takes priority really, i have version 1 and the Urban Strike Team version which is awesome. The rest all fall in at 1 perfect default version.. which is kind of where I'm at now with GIJOE.. 1 default storm shadow.. one default snake eyes.. all of which i'm happy to have. I'll army build certain figures like troopers and stuff too.
I'm way more selective now than I ever was. Like Self Mod.. I have the complete set of SFII world warriors from Sota, even with me rebuying Toybiz ML I wont be buying all of them, as I didnt consider every single one to be that good. Transformers I have two of my favourites in Optimus Prime and Megatron. I'd like to get Autobot Jazz at some stage.. the white porsche? I always thought he was cool
In the main now i'm more focused towards the dio's I'm making and recruiting for those really. Assembling the gijoe team i've got on the roster and marking them off each one at a time after i get them. some will be customs or lbc's and some will be default based on a perfect release by hasbro. One example of this would be v1 firefly or v1 bullhorn.. I think they are both very solid figures and so i dont need to change anything about them.
