Wait! I think the default head of GI Joe figures was... Dwight Stall!

YOU guys might know him BETTER as Barrel Roll. BRv2 was modeled after him, btw. The v1 is more open to interpretation. And just FYI, Major Barrage's head was based off of GI Joe comic artist Tim... Tim something or other. JUST as the faction-only Steel Brigade got figures named after them. Thomas Wheeler sound familiar??? (if not, look up the LETTERS section of the Marvel series AND check out the early DDP run, you'll see his name. SOmtimes 2 months in a row!)

I don't see how age can stop me from asking a question.

They may know the former heads of the department, someone who worked there then can still be around now, etc.

Either way, the 97-98 era featured nothing but rereleased toys, with the exception of Volga's new head sculpt. Yet they were all retooled not for improvements but for inderance.
I'd like to know why. I think anyone who's owned the Viper-who-can't-look-up mold since 1997 would like to know why their Vipers can't look up.

Oh, got another one. This one is very much related to the things this site focuses on.

As a dio site, there's nothing the people here love more than having an awesome setting to shoot figures in. The old Headquarters, Terrordrome, USS Flagg, Mobile Command Center and even Tactical Battle Platform are popular pieces, granted the photographer has them. However, recent playsets (not just Hasbro's, but many companies's) seem to be focused on just being a façade with a handful of gimmicks, but very little in way of "put the figures in there and play out a scenario" (which I believe children and adults alike would enjoy). The "Conquest Of Cobra Mountain" playset from a few years back, the "Akator" playset from the Indiana Jones toyline and even the upcoming (and expensive!!) PITT playset from Rise Of Cobra are prime examples of such deficient playsets.
Different safety laws and cost issues may prevent Hasbro from re-issuing things like the Terrodrome and the FLAGG, but might there any plans to create new playsets that could have the "playtime versatility" (for lack of an existing term) that GIJoe playsets of yesteryear had?

Wow... nicely said. I agree with this and add to it.

What about the resolute Flagg or the Rise/Cobra PITT being produced in "modules"? The conrtol Room, Armory, Infirmary... and then put them all together to create a 8 foot aircraft carrier or a six foot headquarters.

I know... I'm only dreaming.

Jay, as far as I know, NONE of the sculptors that work on GI Joe before 2002 are still there. I was referring to 'age' as in, all those guys have moved on. It's a good question, I just doubt that there'd be an answer. You really think Mike Surabian will ask the sculptors if they remember so-and-so from 15 years ago? We ALL know how the answers will be in the end.

And the modular playset thing, I hear ya Black Knight. I also agree with Jay that the playsets have have been pretty sad. I was wondering if it'd be possible to do modular playsets (include a piece of the Flagg or whatever with a figure) but refrained from bringing up that concept cuz I figured I'd be dissed. I think it's a good idea myself.

Well if you do use my question, it's lengthy enough that adding a "modular playset" sub-question would hinder it. I think they should be two separate questions, should they be chosen.

I also think we should steer clear of Resolute questions since that'll be the bulk of questions being asked by the various websites.

Good call again, Jay. I'll refrain from submitting Resolute questions. That ok with the rest of you all?

Well, every site will most likely be pretty heavily focused on Resolute questions, seeing how it's the "new thing"... I don't know if the management of each Joe site participating in the Q&A tries to coordinate themselves to avoid asking the same question twice... but judging by the submissions I've seen it feels like it'll be quite focused on Resolute stuff.

Me... I'd rather know if we can get fun versatile playsets. Especially since we are JoeDios.

Ultimately it's your call, I'm just giving my opinion on the subject.

Be that as it may, the question you submitted is being asked on every other Joe forum as well.
It's redundant. Extremely redundant.
